This is our first community update post. We will be sharing these from time to time to share exciting things happening in the community. The intro post will serve as what you can expect from these posts in the future.
Firstly, we are super happy to see the gains in engagement on the server. While this also correlates with a rise in bad actors, our staff team has been dilligently working to reverse such actions and improve the server experience for all.Â
One step we've taken internally is introduce a new rank (that you don't want. Seriously..). This new rank is called [Build Banned], and it is given as a punishment in place of regular bans. Players who are build banned have all permissions to interact or edit the world removed, and they may only explore. This is helping us increase traffic on the server while simultaneously stopping rule breakers.Â
On September 11th, 2025, French YouTuber Narouted posted a video about exploring "abandoned" minecraft servers. Our server happened to be included, and while our server was mistakenly considered abandoned, it was super awesome to see some public figures picking up our server. As a result of the video being posted and gaining over 35k+ views at the time of writing, we have consequentially been receiving a lot more French-speaking players joining the server.Â
Narouted was welcomed to the server warmly, and staff have protected the location where he built his home and will be preserving it for him and so also make it apart of our server's history.Â
Narouted's video is only available in French, however YouTube may offer an automatic subtitle translation depending on your device. Narouted made comments on the server explaining that Falcon SMP "tells real stories" and has exclaimed that exploring our server is fun because it is like exploring an abandoned city in real life, finding builds built by players years ago from across the world.Â
You can find Narouted's video below, starting at 4:48.
Falcon SMP is currently looking for members who are interested in taking their involvement on the server to the next level. We currently have applications open for the Moderator and Staff Assistant positions. You can apply here: https://forms.gle/hyMNn3DTAgGmAdKN9
We have officially released a replacement for the DiscordSRV plugin we were previously using. We have replaced it with our own custom built in-house system! The software generally works the same, but should be far more reliable and less prone to major issues. We will be adding some new features to it very soon, including a player list to see who's online, custom advancement notifications, interactive functions like showing your enderchest or an item in hand, and more. If you run into any issues or would like to request a feature, please let us know in Discord.
This replacement serves as the beginning of our journey of replacing third-party software used on the server with our own. Building our own software is far more rewarding to us, allows us to have far more control, and best of all- allows us to push updates out quicker as we won't have to rely on waiting for other developers to update dependencies we need before we can update. This is all around good for the server, and good for you, so we hope you are excited. We will have more to share in the coming weeks, and we think you will really enjoy what we have made so far.
I would like to share some updates regarding ranks. The list below shows the new, up-to-date reference for ranks on the server.
[Admin] - Administrators of the server. Have unrestricted access to all systems and are typically directors of the organization.
[Staff Manager] - A rank that is given to the Staff Manager or Staff Assistant. The Staff Managers are in charge of volunteer moderator/helper teams, and assist with hiring, training, and administrative duties within the network.
[Quality Control] - Given to Quality Assurance testers. Most of our testers are on the development server, and are not often visible on production.
[Moderator] - Given to Volunteer Moderators. Moderators help address server concerns and combat bad actors, while remaining helpful in the community.
[Helper] - Given to Moderators prior to their training period post-hire and users who do not neccesarily meet the requirements for Moderator, but wish to help out in the community. Helpers are faces of the community answering questions and escalating issues to senior staff as they come up, serving as a direct link from Administrators to community members.
[Builder] - Former role enabling world edit access in the creative world. This rank is no longer obtainable and has been phased out until further notice.
[Regular] - Awarded to long-time members that frequent the server often. Currently has no other perks, but some are planned for future content updates.
[Member] - Default rank
[Build Banned] - Given to users who cause extensive damage to the world and as a result have build permissions revoked.
Recently, some of the rank colors were changed. Blue is given to administrators, yellow is given to most staff members, and orange is given to regular members. Brown is reserved for build banning. These colors have been standardized to always remain the same!Â
This is a minor change, but due to demand, we have officially raised the limit for /sethome from 3 homes to 5 homes. That's more free warping. We hope you find this to be a welcome change.
And that's about it! Thanks for tuning into this community update. We will be posting another one of these in the near future, so keep an eye out for that. If you would like to submit content for us to show in the community update, please reach out to Inpuzah on the Discord server!
Thanks for reading and keep being awesome!
